Description: From a local West Tennessee collection comes this pristine early specimen of the highly fashionable Scrimshaw craft type engraved knives of the 1970s and early 1980s. This specimen’s basic pattern is the Single Blade Stainless W.R. Case & Sons Folding Hunter, numbered pattern 6165, or in this one’s case W165, since it is a specially produced knife. Overall length closed is 5 1/4 inches, and the solitary clip pattern concave ground blade measures 4 3/4 inches from heel to point.Blade is classic 1970s Case Streaked-finish Stainless, so marked on the blade’s reverse tang. Obverse Tang’s 1970s script and two dots date this specimen’s manufacture to the Year 1978. Handle panels are genuine white bone, with some attractive age toning on the reverse panel. Liners are solid brass, but with nickel steel rivet pins and bolsters. The star of this knife’s show is principally its Herman Melville reminiscent Whaler Scene hand inked and engraved, or Scrimshawed, on the obverse bone handle panel by the artist, known as a Scrimshandler. Bolsters are all four full coverage engraved with seafaring patterns. The handle panels are as close as Pennsylvania Cow Bone will come to looking like real whale Ivory, very close. This knife has never been used or sharpened, and its surface detractions are negligible, only faint amounts of contact buffing on the blade tang. We rate it as Near Mint, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. This is an exceptional piece of artistry. We’re offering it for only $ 169.00.We do not sell knives to civilians under 21 years of age. Most knives with blades over 3 inches are illegal to carry on Federal Property. All knives are illegal to transport on airlines. No shipments of knives with blades over 3 inches to civilians in New York unless we have a copy of your current New York hunting license. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
