Description: This listing is for the exact pistol in the photos. Walther debuted its P99 pistols in 1997, and their success is ongoing. US Market saw a few imported by the doomed Interarms Company, and then reactivated in 1999 through a joint effort with Smith & Wesson that lasted until 2005. This pistol is live and well, marketed by Walther Arms as the P99, and by Magnum Research in the United States as the MR9. Manufacturer on this specimen was Carl Walther Gmbh Sportwaffen of Ulm, Germany on its frame and internal parts; and final assembler, producer, and importer was Smith & Wesson of Springfield, MA. Type is striker fired, recoil operated, locked breech semi-automatic pistol whose mechanism derived from John M. Browning’s cam-lock system. Construction is steel, stainless, and glass reinforced polymer frame. Chambering is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. It comes with an LE marked 16 shot factory issue magazine. Barrel is 4 inch stainless, 6 groove 1/.984 right hand twist. Note the barrel’s collared muzzle configuration that ensures accuracy, and also slide interchangeability with .40 caliber guns. Guide rod is full length fluted polymer. Sights are stake on front, dovetailed rear, three dot configuration with windage adjustable rear. They are factory issue night sights whose luminosity we rate as 40 to 50 percent vicinity of their original strength, given their decade worth of age. Slide is black melonite finished stainless, like the barrel, serrated fore and aft. Note the sear release on the upper left side of the slide. Operating the slide sets the .425 smooth faced polymer trigger’s pull down to a 1/2 inch, 5 pound vicinity light trigger; the sear release, however, restores the trigger to a 1 inch 8 pound vicinity pull. Safety system relies upon a firing pin safety, upon the Ski Hump pattern of the trigger guard, and on the long double action setting with the sear released. Extreme overall length is 7 inches; maximum height is 5 1/2 inches; maximum thickness is 1.15 inches at the disassembly bar, but the grip part of the frame is only 1 inch thick. Weight empty is 25 1/2 ounces, with center of gravity at the low profile ambidextrous magazine release levers. Note that the mainspring housing / backstrap can be easily replaced to allow shooters to adjust the contour of the grip frame. This specimen has served and protected our fellow Americans in the township of Plymouth, Connecticut with its police officers. From its SA serial number prefix, it issued under Chief Clement Paskus in 2002, and continued to serve under Chief Karen Krasicky until recently. From its SA Serial number prefix, it was manufactured in 2003. It comes in its original factory box with replacement front sights, replacement grip frame backstrap pieces, and instruction manual. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate, with faint amounts of edge wear on the slide and moderate contact scouring on the grip frame. We rate this SW99 as Very Good, 80 to 85 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. We estimate this SW99 was fired some 600 rounds for annual qualification, no rounds at all for a Walther. Replacement pricing on the P99 Walther is $600 or more in our area, and they are very scarce at that. We’re offering the Smith & Wesson / Walther SW99 in the photos, however, for only $ 369.00. Not transferable to civilian residents of California or the District of Colombia. For civilian residents of Connecticut, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, or any jurisdiction that restricts 16 round magazines to law enforcement, we will sub a 10 shot factory magazine.
