Rare Winchester Model 1886 Deluxe Take Down Special Order Fancy Lever Action Rifle .33 WCF
This is a RARE SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER 1886 DELUXE LEVER ACTION Take Down RIFLE. The serial number is SN 141336 and the Caliber is .33 WCF. The barrel is round and 22 inches in length. Winchester Express ivory bead front sight and adjustable leaf rifle rear sight. Instead of the Winchester markings which are normally found on the top of barrel, this barrel has the marking "MANUFACTURED BY THE/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A with patent dates" on the side of the barrel to allow for checking of the top of the barrel. The same is true with the nickel steel, "33 W.C.F” and the Winchester “P”marking adjacent to the receiver. . Standard receiver. The stock is a fancy highly figured walnut, fancy checkered stock, special order shotgun butt with rubber butt plate. It has "H" style checkering on the forend, There are no cracks or repairs to the wood but there is a 1 inch long fine fissure in the graining on the left side of the butt stock as seen in the photos. Some small handling marks are visible in some of the photos attached. The checkering on the butt stock and forend wood shows small flattening due to wear. The barrel has retained most of its original blue while the receiver has lost some of the original blueing with some areas like the receiver bottom has lost all of the blueing. The bottom of the barrel does have some slight minor rubs near the half magazine cap. Mechanics are crisp and fine. All in excellent mechanical order, with a very crisp trigger pull, excellent screws, and no pitting or polishing marks. This gun is accompanied with a Cody Museum Firearms Winchester letter identifying gun as 33 rifle, round barrel type, 1/2 magazine, Fancy checkered stock, takedown, Engraved “G.L.W”, oil finish and received in warehouse September 7, 1907, shipped same day on Order No. 113936. It was returned to the factory twice in 1908. Shipment of this 100+ year old gun requires a signed FFL or C&R license for transfer. The cost of shipping and insurance is $105.00
