Here is a fully traditional Smith & Wesson .357 Distinguished Combat Magnum Stainless, numbered model 686-1. Serial number prefix is AWL. It came into service in 1987 under President Reagan, and served with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department under the leadership of another great Californian, Sheriff Charles Plummer during the Sheriff’s Inaugural Year. This is a fully traditional model 686 Revolvers, the First Engineering change with true K/L Square Butt Grip frame, serrated fore and aft; and satin stainless .360 smooth combat trigger and hammer nose type serrated spur .375 semi-target hammer, also satin stainless. Note that the Black Blade Adjustable Rear Sight is the square front type, so this 686 is not drilled for scope mounts. Grips are period correct Pachmayr SK/GP Professionals. Barrel, of course, is full lug stainless 6 inch. We do not consider the ACS R007 Department marking on the left side of the frame, neatly executed on the cylinder bevel, to be a detraction; it is an asset on our view, especially given Sheriff Plummer’s almost-legendary status among law enforcement professionals nationwide. This 686’s principal surface detraction is from moderate flattening to the serrations in the grip frame’s back strap; other than that, there are only buffed areas on the right side of the frame and trigger guard as well as faint buffing on the muzzle area. We rate this 686 as Very Good, close to Excellent, since we estimate that less than 15 percent of its surfaces are affected by any kind of contact evidence. It is Excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is minimal, a thin etchy shallow groove that traverses perhaps 2/3 of the width of the top strap. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Double action trigger pull is tight but consistent, and the hammer travels 10 degrees on all six positions after the cylinder times into place. On single action, the hammer travels a full 30 degrees on all six after the cylinder times, and the single action trigger pull is a crisp 4 pounds with no felt creep. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a perfect .006. Lateral play to the cylinder is minimal, less about 1 mm total with the trigger relaxed and 1/2 mm with it fully depressed. This variant of the Distinguished Combat Magnum is marked with the M armorer’s mark on its yoke for the hammer nose modification that it and all its mates went under in the late 1980s. We're offering it for only $ 519.95. Not transferable to civilians in California, D.C., or Massachusetts.

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
