A great example of the Shiloh Rifle Company’s Model 1874 single shot Business Rifle in 45 2 4/10 (.45-90) caliber. Manufactured by special order in Big Timber, Montana in May 2006, this beautiful Sharps has many desirable features and priced upgrades, as follows: a bone and charcoal, pack hardened receiver upgrade; a 30 inch high polish, blued barrel upgrade; semi-fancy walnut stocks upgrade with straight grip; AAA finish upgrade; bone and charcoal, pack hardened patch box upgrade; a bone and charcoal, pack hardened military butt plate upgrade; German silver blade front sight; folding, combination full buck horn and ladder rear sight graduated to 800 yards; fire blued, polished screws upgrade; brass escutcheons upgrade; a polished pewter foreend upgrade, and adjustable double set triggers. The top of the 30 inch round barrel is marked “Shiloh – Sharps Model 1874” ahead of the rear sight, and “CALIBRE 45 2 4/10” at the breech. The left side of the receiver is marked “SHILOH RIFLE MFG. CO./BIG TIMBER, MONTANA”. Complete in a beautifully designed and crafted, custom oak case with brass hardware, a leather carrying strap on the top and black steel carrying handles on each end. The case is very well made, is equipped with brackets and adjustable fixtures to securely hold the rifle in place, and includes a covered accessories compartment with a fitted oak lid with hand-screw closure. The case dimensions are: length of 54 ¼ inches; width of 6 inches; height of eleven inches. The hand crafted oak case has dove tailed corners, triple brass latch closures with key lock on the center latch. Two rifle hold down clamps with leather cushions and hand screw brackets. OAL: 46 ¾ inches to interior of crescent butt plate; 47 ¼ inches to the heel and 47 1/8 inches to the toe. LOP: 13 ¼ inches to the rear trigger; 14 ¼ inches to the forward trigger. Weight: 11 pounds 7.3 ounces. Barrel muzzle diameter is 7/8 inch. Papers include: Shiloh Sharps Model 1874 Instruction manual, Shiloh Manufacturing Inspection Checklist Hang Tag, Cleaning Instructions, Disassembly Instruction, Schematic and Parts List, Basic Instructions for MVA Sharps Pattern Vernier Sights #107, 108 and 130 Series. Condition is new. There are a few handling scratches on one side of the foreend cap. The barrel has a very tiny handling ding. The semi-fancy walnut stock is attractively figured and the AAA finish adds to the luster and beauty. The hand crafted oak case is in excellent condition.
