When Sgt. Alvin York, then a Cpl., knocked out half a dozen machine guns and captured 132 Germans, during WWI, he was carrying a US Model of 1917 Rifle! Sgt. York was awarded the MOH, for what he did with his Model of 1917 Rifle. Here is the same model that served the doughboys, "over there" in WWI and was pulled out and used again during WWII. The war horse of a rifle has a High Standard Military Contract Barrel, fitted for WWII. The rifle turned in excellent groups when I range tested it. Several clear markings show the history of the rifle, from the old Eagle Head US acceptance mark, to the Flaming Bomb, of the US Ordnance Dept. More photos and details upon request.
