Steyr Mannlicher M95/34 Austro Hungarian Empire Carbine!
Originally made by Österreichische Waffenfabriks-Gesellschaft, Steyr, 1897-1918 for the Austro/Hungarian Empire. This was the world’s FIRST CLIP fed firearm! The “Straight Pull Bold Action” was also a first in its day. Just as the Garand Rifle used an eight round clip, this carbine utilized a five round clip for the 8X56R ammunition. In the early 1930s the long rifles were cut down to carbine length, and assigned to either border guards or auxiliary troops. Still highly accurate, and they fire one whopper of a round, this is a beautiful carbine to fire.
This is a fine example, the wood is dirty, but with some wood soap she should clean up fine. The metal is coated in Cosmoline, it will need to be disassembled and cleaned with a rag and some acetone. These rifles were meant to last, and this one is more than likely over 100 years old now. Very few if any of these are available to collectors, please get this one before it to turns into history.
