We believe this Italian replica of the Colt 1862 Pocket Navy Model revolver is Armi San Marco production, of Brescia, Italy. It is only marked, Made in Italy, and with an unclear maker’s mark above the loading lever. It is unmarked as to importer as well, but we think it is an FIE Import. Date code is AH, 1981 production, and this revolver comes to us from the estate of its only owner. Construction is blued steel barrel assembly, trigger, hammer and cylinder, with two piece brass grip frame and main frame. We do not recommend firing any heavy loads in a brass frame .44, anywhere from 15 to 22 grains. It has blondish colored Italian hardwood grip panels. Barrel is Octagonal, 1/4 inch across the flats, 7 1/2 inch with 7 groove left hand 1:36 rifling. Chambering is .44 Black Powder caliber, uses black powder or credible substitutes like Pyrodex®. Ignition is #10 Revolver Percussion Caps. Cylinder capacity is 6 rounds of .451, .454, or .457 diameter round balls or similar size conical projectile. Sights are threaded brass post front, with notched hammer face rear sight. Weight empty is only 41 ounces, with center of gravity at the cylinder face. This revolver issued in kit form. Bluing on its steel surfaces are original factory blue. Grip and frame finish are consumer finished. Surface detractions are minimal, only faint amounts of toning on the trigger and hammer sides, and faint inconspicuous freckling on the blue. We rate this 1862 Pocket as Very Good, close to Excellent, 85 percent vicinity by our estimate; photos ought to suffice so that our shoppers can judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, cylinder chambers and mechanism are all bright and clean. The cylinder times correctly on all six positions. Trigger pulls at an exceptionally light 1 1/4 pounds with no felt creep. Replacement price on this revolver is upwards of $300 in our area. We’re offering this one, however, for only $ 139.00.
