Marlin’s site describes the rifle thusly: "With their tapered octagon barrels, these rifles offer true cowboy-rifle heft and aesthetics for everyone from the die-hard Cowboy Action Shooter to the hunter who appreciates 19th century-style firearms. Our Model 1895 Cowboy is chambered for 45-70 Gov't. and is equipped with a 26" barrel. Also, featuring traditional Ballard-style rifling, handsome American black walnut stock and fore-end, and richly blued finish." The magazine holds 9 rounds per Marlin's web page. Purchased to become a rifle to shoot at the local “Buffalo Rifle” match, it was the victim of being one project too many. The rifle is in really great condition and shows little, if any nicks or wear. I shot the rifle about 40 times. I enjoy the .45-70 round and this rifle shoots very comfortably, due I suppose to the long 26” barrel. This rifle comes with the original box. The buyer is 100% responsible for knowledge of and compliance with local laws and ordinances. Shipping Costs listed in the ad header apply to the Lower 47 States only. Barrel and a 34 inch Full Barrel, and includes the original Browning hard case. This gun was manufactured in the late ‘70’s and purchased by me in the mid ‘90’s. I shot the gun regularly until two years ago, when other responsibilities curtailed the amount time that I had to shoot trap. The gun was professionally overhauled and refinished in 2006. The bluing has worn on the receiver and I had it refinished with a satin nickel finish instead of bluing. Interestingly, the nickel finish tightened the gun up to the point that I feels new again. Bluing on the barrels is original. So…Why am I selling this gun if it is SO good? Simple. It has not been to the range in over two years and needs to go to someone who will enjoy it and let is see the light of day. Please contact me if you have questions or would like to discuss this gun. I am in central North Carolina and you are welcome to inspect and shoot it. Shipping Costs listed herein apply to the Lower 47 States only.
