Description: Original 1874 Smith & Wesson, 44 Russian, (1st Model, model 3, Nickel)....RARE 7" Barrel. This Gun was in Bill Harrah's Pony Express Museum, Nevada,... ended up at Butterfield & Butterfield/ S.F. California and autioned off on July 23 1986. S&W Lettered to Curry Brothers, S.F., California on May 19, 1874 which makes this gun a WESTERN GUN. Ser. #31XXX Nickel is very good in some places and has softened in most other places. Wood Grips are Original, no cracks, has some slight shirnkage on bottom of grips. Lettering and Numbers in Excellent condition. The front sight has a coin....maybe a mexican peso, which has been replaced like a 100 years ago.It looks as old as the gun. **Outlaw John Wesley Hardin carried a gun just like this one in 1874/ killed a law man with it. You will not find for sale a better or Historical S&W 44 Russian/Lettered for this price.
