Aguila ammunition is produced by our good friends just south of Mexico City in Cuernavaca, right here in North America. From a 20 inch barrel, this Aguila .22 Supermaximum Hyper Velocity round ups the ante by more than 100 feet per second from a 20 inch barreled rifle, 1700 feet per second. Muzzle energy in rifle barrels reportedly tops 200 foot pounds, also magnum range, and we have read credible tests where pistols with this ammo frequently reached the desirable 11 inches of penetration in ballistic gelatin. Bullet is a 30 grain hollowpoint, faintly shy of the Stinger's bullet. Another test that we revolver fans take quite seriously has to do with the Eley priming system on these. Sure, Ruger autos will digest anything, but light-strike Smith & Wessons and tuned Tauruses are more finicky. Aguila's connection with Eley gives us more confidence on this count. And we have just as much confidence in Aguila's accuracy, both from personal experience and from positive test reports plastered everywhere on the Net.
