The Fox SP Grade was introduced in 1932 to ignite new life in the Fox double shotgun. The depression was on, and the Savage owned Fox factory needed new business. Just a year before, Winchester introduced the Model 21, a popular shotgun then and now. Fox saw the opportunity to make some cost saving changes in the appearance of the Fox with the new SP Grade. With its smooth-sided black frame, more rounded stock and action top, the gun appeared more as an English boxlock and similar to the new Model 21. Internally it was exactly like every other Fox produced. By 1934, Savage/Fox introduced a new Fox graded gun spun out of the SP Grade, called the SPE Skeet and Upland Game gun. A VERY RARE GUN, WITH LESS THAN 50 MADE EVER, EVERY FOX COLLECTOR SHOULD HAVE ONE OF THESE IN THEIR COLLECTION. This fine Fox, sn303823 made in 1939, is a fully documented special order Skeet and Upland and remains in excellent factory original condition. The gun handles delightfully like most every Fox, balanced 1/8" ahead of the hinge pin and weighing 6lbs. 10oz. Look at this Fox! All of the hard edges are gone, with the action rounded top and bottom, the breech balls filed to the shape of the barrels like an XE grade...a true round bodied Fox. ELEGANT INDEED! So, here is your opportunity to own 1 of less than 50, with Fox/Kautzky single selective trigger, ejectors, English stock, beavertail forend, and 96% factory original metal finishes. The factory original wood has been restored to perfection.
