Examination of its lines and workmanship demonstrate the impressive expertise of Turkish Gunmakers who, after all, have been at the trade for as long as their Italian teachers and counterparts. The home company is Kayhan Art of Turkey. Not only Mossberg, but also Remington, Smith & Wesson, and Weatherby have all indulged their lines with shotguns made in Turkey; and this is the most attractive of the entire lot. The Silver Reserve Field, of which this is a specimen, is equipped with a total of two Cylinder or Skeet interchangeable choke tubes that are the same thread as Benelli’s. This interchangeability gives the hunter, writes the factory, the ultimate in versatility with lead, steel and other non-toxic loads. Mossberg International SKU is 75411. At the heart of every Reserve Series Over-and-Under is an underlock design, box lock action for superior strength and low profile. So says Mossberg. Mechanism is Single Selective Trigger; the safety lever serves as barrel selector. The shotgun cocks itself upon unbreeching, and transfer is mechanical, not recoil. Mechanism is extractor, no hull-wasting automatic ejectors. The photos show the attractively blued barrel, 3 inch chambered 26 inch Vent Rib with Benelli/Beretta thread choke tubes. Stock and forend are satin finished European Walnut with cut checkering. Receiver is engraved satin nickel with gold inlay. Trigger is gold plated, and the tang safety served as barrel selector. Barrels have single block extractor, and thc extractor and chamber sides are nicely jeweled. Buttstock measures for a 14 inch length of pull including the Decelerator type buttpad; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb and 2 1/4 inch drop at heel with about a 3 degree right hand cant from the frame. Right side of the pistol grip area has a very nice palmswell. Weight empty is 7.5 pounds. This shotgun is what we call a factory demo; it has been shown and test fired, but never out of Mossberg’s Distribution system until we got it. Its only surface detractions are some scouring to the forward edges of the forend and the edges of the buttstock’s pistol grip area. It is a factory box with its papers and factory lock. Box is marked with 80020 SKU, Mossberg International designation for not-quite-brand-new. The two tubes in the barrel are the only ones that came with it, but Benelli tubes are commonly available. Bore, chamber and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. It has a six month factory service warranty. Silver Reserve Mossbergs command prices upwards of $800.00 in our area.
