Description:
LEFT HANDED KIMBER OF OREGON MODEL 82 RIMFIRE VARMINTER – SUPER RARE in LEFT HANDED ACTION -- LAST YEAR OF KIMBER’S LIFE AS A PREMIER FIREARMS COMPANY
This rifle is a scarcity of the first order – the Kimber of Oregon Rimfire Varminter. 1991 was the last year, actually partial year, for the Kimber of Oregon Company. They declared bankruptcy in February of that year. Before the doors closed, they published a green covered catalog for the year. On page two of that catalog, Kimber announced the availability of a Rimfire Varminter, in either right or left handed action, chambered in the .22 LR caliber. The announcement, complete with photograph of a Rimfire Varminter, described the rifle as follows:
• Caliber: .22LR
• Weight: 8 ¼ pounds
• Length: 44 inches
• Action: Rear locking repeater, grooved receiver, 5-shot magazine
• Barrel: 25 inches, 6 grooves, free floated
• Stock: Birch laminate, stock length of pull 13 ¾ inches, non-checkered
• Right or left hand
Since the publication of that 1991 catalog, and since L & M Enterprises USA LLC has maintained records for Kimber of Oregon firearms, we show only a small handful of Rimfire Varminters moving through the market. Today, examples that are actually factory new and unaltered appear to be extremely rare. All of the examples of which we are aware have been RIGHT handed actions. We have NOT encountered any LEFT handed actions, although we assume they must exist somewhere, but who knows?
We offer here an example of the Model 82 Rimfire Varminter in LEFT handed action, Model 82A configuration, in a true factory new condition. It comes with a black plastic Gun Guard case with dark grey egg-crate interior foam and a sliver, metallic KIMBER decal on the outside of the case.
