Type is locked breech metal frame compact traditional single and double action semi automatic pistol. Construction is steel slide assembly including guide rod, sights, hammer, trigger, levers, barrel, internal parts and magazine body, built into a light weight alloy frame, with polymer guide rod, floor plate, and cartridge follower. Chambering is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Barrel is 3 1/2 inch with distinctive contoured muzzle that yielded superior accuracy. Bore is 5 groove right hand, 1:18.75 rifling. Sights are matte 3 dot, dovetailed front and rear, and drift adjustable only for windage. Smith & Wesson 3914s come point of aim from the factory. Safety lever is ambidextrous and serves as a decocker to safety discontinue a firing session. The .265 hammer is factory bobbed with no spur, for a premeditated first shot from resting position, single action thereafter. The .305 smooth faced trigger pulls at 11 pounds vicinity double action; single action pull is a stiff but crisp two stage 7 pounds, with negligible felt creep and overtravel. The 3914 also has a firing pin safety and a magazine safety; it will NOT fire single shot with the magazine removed. Magazine is 8 shot flat plate factory. Magazine release is reversible for left handed shooters. Grips are factory S&W black polymer straight backstrap type. Weight is 23 15/16 oz empty; .732 frame thickness and .935 slide thickness. Maximum overall length 6 7/8 inches; and maximum overall height of 5 1/4 inches including the rear sight. Finish is Dura Coat refinish. This 3914 comes from security duty in the Land of Israel, atttest its import stamp on the forward left side of the frame. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate, principally residual wear to the right side of the one piece grip. We rate this 3914 as Very Good, perhaps even Excellent Refinish, 85 to 90 percent vicinity by our estimate, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. We estimate it was fired fewer than 1,000 times, no rounds at all for a 3900 Smith & Wesson. Last replacement price for a metal frame Smith & Wesson like this was $700 range.
