Accepted Payment Methods: Returns: 3 Days This Seller Accepts Instant Online Payments Description: Here we have something rather unique, It is a Colt Late Military Model Single Action Army Revolver (.45 Colt). This item was sold to the United States Government and delivered to the U.S. Government Inspector located at the Colt plant on January 20, 1891. This was one of 200 revolvers in that particular shipment. One reference states that the military models are serial numbered to approximately 136000 when the artillery models started, this item falls somewhere in between that production. The military model Colts were marked “US” and the oil stained walnut grips were impressed with the inspectors cartouche and initials. The “R.A.C.” stamped in several areas are the initials for U.S. Inspector by the name of Rinaldo A. Carr. Nearly all he original finish is gone and only a hint of the color case hardening can be seen around the screw holes in the frame. The bore shows light pitting but is in remarkably good condition, the rifling is shallow but prominent. Moderate pitting is present on many areas of the exterior. The wood stocks are in fantastic shape for a firearm of its age with no visible chips or cracks.
