This gun is engraved with very high quality rose and scroll probably done by famed Purdy engraver J. Lucas. The barrels are engraved, "Made of Sir Joseph Whitworth's Fluid Pressed Steel".
The stock is highly figured and beautifully streaked European walnut with a checkered straight grip and a checkered wood butt. There is an inlaid gold oval with the initials "P.A.V.". The forend has equally beautiful wood and checkering with an Anson release.
This item also includes the original oak and leather Purdy case with brass corners and a round central medallion. The interior is lined with red baize with the Purdey label and the complete set of accessories.
