In the past few months, both Colt and Smith & Wesson have trotted out California Compliant versions of their 6000 series and MP15 Sport Rifles whose magazines remove only with the use of a tool, even something as simple as a bullet nose. Both companies also market similar detachable magazine equipped rifles that comply with State Laws in Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey, all of whom allow detachable magazines only with ten round capacity. Colt has marketed 9 round magazines for their rifles since well before 1994, and Smith & Wesson produces 10 rounders for its MP series rifles. Bushmaster Firearms, BFI of Windham, ME, a Remington Affiliate with an Excellent Reputation for quality, has lagged behind its Connecticut and Massachusetts Competitors on breaching the California Market, producing only its Carbon 15 with sealed mag. For over a decade, however, BFI has manufactured the best ten round steel magazines for these type rifles, beginning in the mid 1990s, when the ten round civilian limit was Nationwide. Photos show specimens of these fine BFI magazines. Construction is all steel body and springs, with high impact orange polymer cartridge followers. Finish is weather and wear resistant military parkerized type. Capacity is ten rounds of .223 Remington Ammunition.
