Accepted Payment Methods: Returns: 3 Days This Seller Accepts Instant Online Payments Description: Up for sale is a Sharps 1863 New Model Saddle Ring Carbine (.52 Caliber linen Sharps Cartridge). This item has a 22” barrel with three groove rifling, ladder rear sight and wood stocks. The bore is in surprisingly good condition and shiny to the naked eye, bore scope inspections reveals light pitting in the barrel and strong rifling. The metal finish shows wear and very light pitting on the exterior surfaces. The stocks shows dings and scratches as would be expected from a unit of this age but are in great shape considering the wood is 150+ years old. The butt stock does show a few cracks in the wood in front of the butt plate as seen in the pictures. These Sharps carbines were issued to the 10th Illinois Cavalry in 1865 and this particular carbine was issued to Henry Warner in Company “B”. Henry was a resident of Blueville, IL and enlisted on 09/20/1861 as a private.
