Here is a representative, we believe, of the 3 ½ inch Reintroduction 27-5 Smith & Wessons from 1991. It comes to us from a South Texas Union Pacific Railroad Detective. Its BHF prefix appears to date it from May or June of that year. The features of this particular .357 Magnum match the Standard Catalog’s description of the Like the Original guns from that year. Front sight is pinned black ramp; trigger is .312 smooth Combat; hammer is .400 Semi-Target; and the #34 inspection sticker is still on the square butt N grip frame. Rough area on the back left edge of the trigger is original to this revolver. It came to us with lackluster 1980s logo-less Pachmayrs, and we replaced them with the nearest thing we could find to Product Code 100998’s Morado Wood: a set of Hogue Combat Goncalo 29200 grips. This revolver is Excellent, both finishwise and mechanically. The only surface detractions that we see is moderate cylinder rotation marking. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the forcing cone is minimal, very light creasing that traverses no more than half the width of the top strap. Bore and cylinder chambers are bright, clean, and excellent. Double action trigger pull is tight but smooth, and the hammer travels a full 15 to 20 degrees in all six positions after the cylinder times into place. On single action, the hammer travels a full 25 degrees after the cylinder times, and the single action trigger pull is a very crisp 3 ¾ pounds. Lateral movement of the cylinder, or wobble effect, is minimal both with the trigger relaxed and with it pulled, no more than 1mm total movement. We’re offering this Excellent Smith & Wesson Model 27-5, Blue Steel 3 ½ inch barrel, for only $ 789.95
