Smith & Wesson's own self-awareness as the leading popular-priced firearms manufacturer gained expression in the late 1960s with presentation-cased regular production N-frame revolvers, but that practiced ended in the early 1980s with a period of deflation and stout competition from Sturm Ruger. Nowadays, those vintage 1970s boxes command premium prices in the $200 - $300 range, not a feasible investment for many proud owners of Smith & Wessons. Here is the factory's current offering to fill the void, a walnut stained, sturdy built hardwood case with classic navy blue velvet texture lining. This one is factory number 19250000, small revolver case. It is not for a J-frame, however; these boxes will hold a 6 1/2 inch Model 29. Actually, these are more sturdy than the vintage originals. They have classic glossy Smith & Wesson finish, and come with brass furniture that includes a locking main hasp with two keys. Note the table-friendly felt corner pads on the bottom side.
