Here is an excellent and economical 9mm pistol, Smith & Wesson's SD / Self Defense Series Center Fire SD9VE in stainless steel and polymer. Type is striker fired semi automatic pistol. Manufacturer is Smith & Wesson of Springfield, MA. Construction is stainless steel barrel slide, and magazine bodies, with steel internal parts and front sight, and with high impact polymer frame, rear sight, trigger, striker plate, and magazine floorplate. Barrel is 4 inch 1:18.75 right hand five groove rifling. Slide is matte stainless, serrated fore and aft. Sights are dovetail front and rear, white dot black steel front and combat type two dot rear that is drift adjustable only for windage. Frame is contoured for thinness, with stippling texture on the lateral sides of the grip frame, and checkering on the front and back straps. Front of frame incorporates a two slot picatinny rail for lighting devices. Trigger is .350 two piece combat type, with 3/4 inch travel and 8 pound pull, double action only and the same every shot. The SD9 has a firing pin safety, trigger safety, and drop safety, but it does not have any magazine safety; that is, it will fire single shot with no magazine if need be. Overall length is 7 1/8 inches from the muzzle to the grip frame strut, and height is 5 1/2 inches from the top of the rear sight to the toe of the magazine floorplate. Slide width is 1.10 inches, and frame width 1.15 inches at the port. Weight empty is 22 3/4 ounces with center of gravity at the top of the trigger. Chambering is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Each SD9 comes with a total of two 16 shot magazines, and the magazine release is not reversible for southpaws. Each pistol comes in its factory blue cardboard box with instruction manual, factory registration card, protective packaging, fired brass envelope, and cable lock.
