Compact versions of the venerable 1911 Government model pistols began appearing from custom gunsmiths in the 1960s. In 1976, the Detonics MC1 compact hit the market. Then, in 1992, Colt itself began producing its Officer’s ACP with a shortened grip frame, slide, and barrel. Here are magazines for the Colt Compacts: the Officer’s ACP, the New Agent, and the Defender. Manufacturer is Colt Industries of Hartford CT. Construction is stainless steel body and floorplate, with steel spring and matte blue steel cartridge follower, as the photos show. Colt part number is SP579991, Each magazine holds seven rounds of .45 ACP, 45 Automatic caliber ammunition. These magazines will also fit Kimber variants Compact, Ultra-Carry, and Ultra-Elite; Para-Ordnance and Springfield Compact and Ultra-Compact; Wilson Compact and SDS; Sig Revolution RCS; Detonics Combat Master; Rock Island 1911 Compact; and most any 1911 type pistol whose grip screws are 2 11/16 inches apart. If you have a compatible 1911 design compact, its magazine well, the inside of the grip frame, should measure exactly 4 inches, with your ruler or tape measure against the inside of the front strap or back strap of the pistol. These magazines will not fit a full size Government Model or Commander 1911 Pistol. They will Not Fit a Government or Compact chambered in 9mm, .38 Super, or 9x23 calibers. They will Not Fit a Stallard Arms JS-45 Pistol. They Will Not Fit the Dump Lever of a 1932 Leach Body Chevrolet Garbage Truck.
