This pistol’s design follows the groundbreaking PT-92 design, borrowed from Beretta, but its contours show German influence as well. Photo specimen is one of only a handful of PT-945s we bought on a special Taurus liquidation, all of them brand new in their boxes. Its ambidextrous safety lever is frame mounted and allows the shooter a choice of single or double action first shot. It can be carried Cocked and Locked, but the safety also serves as a decocking lever. The alloy frame yields an unloaded weight of only 29 ounces, and the maximum slide width is only one inch, a very efficient design for a .45. Note its integral Picatinny optics or light rail on its frame. Sights are Novak style three dot, mounted over a serrated matte slide top for minimal sight distortion, even under very hot conditions. Note the one piece guide rod beneath the 4 1/4 inch Commander length barrel; these are simple, sturdy, and accurate pistols. This pistol comes with a total of two 8+1 capacity magazines, and extra magazines are commonly available. Pistol is equipped with Taurus’s innovative internal lock and two keys.
