Rare Winchester Model 1886 Deluxe Take Down Special Order Fancy Lever Action Rifle .33 WCF
This is a RARE SPECIAL ORDER WINCHESTER 1886 DELUXE LEVER ACTION Take Down RIFLE. The serial number is SN 132442 and the Caliber is .33 WCF. The barrel is round and 24 inches in length. Lyman ivory hunting bead front sight and serrated thumb piece elevator sporting rear sight. The top flat of barrel is marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE/WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A." and adjacent to the receiver is "33 W.C.F.". Standard receiver with sliding graduated peep sight. The stock is a fancy highly figured walnut, checkered pistol grip, grip cap, special order shotgun butt with rubber butt plate. It has "H" style checkering on the forend, There are no splits, cracks or repairs to the wood. These marks are visible in some of the photos attached. The checkering on the butt stock and forend wood shows no flattening, wear or damage marks. I suspect this rifle had little use based on this. The toe of the butt stock has been damaged as can be seen in the photos. The barrel has retained most of its original blue but is thinning while the receiver has lost half of the original blueing with some areas like the receiver bottom and take-down flange have lost all of the blueing. The barrel does have some minor nicks and scratches beyond the light thinning. There is one spot where there is a small area of what appears to be fine pitting that can be seen in the photos. All in excellent mechanical order, with a very crisp trigger pull, excellent screws, and no pitting or polishing marks. Mechanics are crisp and fine. This gun is accompanied with a Cody Museum Firearms Winchester letter identifying gun as 33 rifle, 1/2 magazine, checkered stock, pistol grip, takedown, received in warehouse November 11, 1904, shipped next day on Order No. 255870. Shipment of this 107 year old gun requires a signed FFL or C&R license for transfer. The cost of shipping and insurance is $105.00
