No rifle we know of has consistently held its value and even appreciated like the 1894 Marlins. These fine rifles are the standard which all others try to imitate. This specimen comes to us from its exclusive owner in Hawaii. Manufacturer is Marlin Firearms Co. of New Haven, CT. From this 1894’s 20122000 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1980. Type is lever action repeating rifle. Construction is entirely steel metal parts, with American Black Walnut forend and Buttstock, tipped with Marlin’s factory marked black checkered white lined buttplate. Stock finish is satin semi-gloss, with blue steel metal finish. Barrel is 20 inch with 1:38 Micro 8 Groove Ballard type rifling; tube fed lever action with 10+1 round capacity of .44 Remington Magnum or .44 Smith & Wesson Special cartridges interchangeably. Sights are traditional buckhorn windage and step-elevation adjustable with hooded bead front sight. This older variant has a half cock position and a lever safety, but it does not have the cross bolt safety that Marlin began installing in 1985. Weight empty is 6 1/2 pounds, with center of gravity at the breech face. Length of pull is 13 1/2 inches from the face of the smooth .260 gold plated trigger. Surface detractions on this Marlin are minimal to moderate, principally inconspicuous finish freckling to the metal with one small etchy spot near the front sight, and faint scouring on the comb of the Buttstock.
