Parker Trojan 20ga. TURNBULL RESTORATION, AFFORDABLE PARKER 20GA!
Lets face it, Parker doubles are, feature for feature, grade for grade, the most costly vintage American double on the market. Just like in 1912 when the Parker Trojan model was first introduced, some of us cannot afford a graded Parker 20ga. in today’s market at over $4000. Hence we have this fine little Trojan that makes it way easier to walk the fields and clays course with the gun you have always wanted; a Parker just like your dad’s or granddad’s. The Trojan is the exact same mechanism as any other Parker with a few less options you simply don’t need to go shoot up your favorite birds or clays. This particular Trojan, sn 161813 was built in 1913 and has been completely restored to factory new finishes by Doug Turnbull Restorations. It still looks new and if any of you have ever researched the cost of a full restoration by the world famous Turnbull outfit, you know the cost is prohibitive on a gun like this little Parker, nearly exceeding my asking price of the gun. This gun will be a good investment for you as it will be worth more next year than it is this year as nice Parker 20ga. guns are becoming scarce.
The 28” barrels with dolls head rib extension are choked M/F (.014/.023, can be altered for $60 per barrel), with great bores, .617 bore diameter, 30 thou minimum wall thickness, 2 ½” chambers (can be lengthened along with the forcing cones to reduce recoil and possibly improve patterns for $140, but not required for shooting 2 ¾” shells. If you don’t know why, ask), 100% blue, no pits or dents, extractors, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin like a new gun, ribs tight and barrels ring like bells, great set of barrels.
The action has perfect screws, factory perfect bone and charcoal case colors, action tight with lever slightly to right, excellent trigger pulls, trigger guard 100% niter blue, all in excellent mechanical condition with sharp lettering.
The wood is nicely restored with excellent factory flat top checkering, superb wood to metal fit, no splits, cracks, or repairs, LOP 14” to factory plate, 2 ½” drop at heel, 1 ½” drop at comb, 3/16” cast on for really nice shooting dimensions (can be bent to your specs for less than $200 within 10 days of purchase). The wood to metal fit on this gun is a testament to the early Parker factory’s dedication toward quality. It is perfect, even on their “economy” model.
This fine little Parker weighs just 6lbs. 3oz. and balances perfectly 1/8” ahead of the hinge pin and is delightful in hand. A finer field gun could not be found at 3 times the money. This is the kind of gun you can afford to enjoy and then hand down to your children for them to enjoy as well.
