This is a Smith & Wesson Model 46, 22LR, 7" barrel, blue, nylon grips, adjustable sights. SN is #95948. It does not have a magazine. Only 4,000 of these pistols were made between 1957-1966. This model is similar to the Model 41, but does not have high polish bluing. The Indiana State Police used this gun to shoot in matches all over the nation. It was a special order item from the Indiana State Police Match Team.
State Police Agencies use to travel and compete against each other in shooting matches. These competitions helped officers to become better marksmen. This gun has been engraved showing that it was donated by Ford Dealers of Indiana in 1968. This pistol also comes with an Official Indiana State Police letterhead describing the details of it. This is a very very rare with an amazing history and story with documentation.
