THIS RIFLE HAS BEEN RE-LISTED DUE TO A NON-PAYING BUYER.
This specific Vetterli rifle is described in an article on swissrifles.com. You can also find details in the article "A Wallflower No more" on my site, The new River Valley Outdoorsman. It is a legal antique, and no FFL is required unless you live in some benighted state like New Jersey.
It has been converted to centerfire operation and shoots quite well. It has a modifed front sight and a replacement peep rear sight. The original sight is not available.
I will include in the sale a set of dies for the 10.4x37R centefire round; a custom-made Lee mold to make the bullets; and cases and loaded ammunition, complete with load data. Please see the referenced article for details on the modification and customization of this antique.
In ballistic performance it's about like a .45-70, suitable for hunting almost any animal in North America. It's a beautiful example of Swiss craftsmanship, all matching, and in excellent shape. The original cleaning rod is in place. This rifle was made in Bern in 1878.
I have a total of $900 in this rig: I'm financing a safari and so it has to be let go. You can have it for $750 plus shipping costs to your US address. It's BIG, and I imagine shipping will be around $40, but I don't make money on shipping, you will pay only actual costs and get a receipt. I can ship this rifle via US Postal Service, or FEDEX. It will be shipped with the stock dismounted to make a more compact package and to minimize any chance of breakage. Contact me through GA if you're interested, I will send much more information on the details of the conversion and the load development.
Buyer pays actual cost of shipment to any US address. No foreign sales, please, it's just too much hassle. Rifle will be shipped by FEDEX, with the stock removed to make a more compact package.
Three day non-disassembly non-firing inspection, return if not satisfied at your expense.
