In June 1941 Adolf Hitler ordered the invasion of Russia with Operation Barbarossa. Barbarossa was the largest military operation in human history with 3.9 million Nazi axis troops taking part. Ninety five percent of all Nazi casualties took place on the Russian Eastern Front. At some point during the German and Russian fighting on the Eastern Front this rifle was captured by the Russians. The rifle was reworked by the Russians at a later point in time and put into long term arsenal storage. These Russian Capture rifles appeared in post WWII Cold War hot spots around the world as well as the Korean and Vietnam wars. This K98 Cal. 8m/m is a late war production rifle code bcd 4(1944).Rifle has a Nazi war eagle with swastika on the left side of receiver. All Nazi marking are intact. No markings are defaced in any manner. Stamped matching serial numbers on barrel and stock. All other serial numbers are etched matching. Bore is bright and in excellent condition. Stock is in very good condition with two arsenal stock repairs(one forward of the butt plate and one behind the receiver back).Photos on request. Rifle is a unaltered Russian Capture.
