HG5318 From its career with the Israeli civilian Police, the Mishteret Y’Israel, comes this FN Belgian Made Hi-Power, model of 1935, also known as the P-35. This Hi-Power’s serial number dates it to the late 1940s, 47,000 range; and it has been arsenal or factory updated, most likely sometime in the 1980s, with a Mark II type black semi-gloss finish to its slide and military parkerized finish on its grip frame. Most likely, it was on duty during all four major wars: in 1948, 1956, 1967 and 1973 in its original configuration. It is still equipped with its military lanyard ring, and grips are Mark II type replacement, but factory. Caliber is THE 9mm, 9mm Luger, 9x19, 9mm Parabellum, call it what you will. Construction is entirely steel, 118 mm or 4 5/8 inch barrel, right-hand-twist 6 groove; magazine safety and firing pin safety; weight empty 32 oz / 900 g; fixed low profile combat sights; single action only with lever safety; .265 smooth face combat trigger and original or period commander type hammer; redesigned factory black composite checkered grip panels. Frame, barrel, and slide are all matching numbers, the slide and barrel possibly renumbered at the factory. This specimen has normal service wear and scouring on its surfaces, but lettering is sharp throughout. Slide is marked Fabrique Nationale Herstal Belgique / Browning’s Patent Depose, with PW Arms import marking beneath on the left side of the frame as required by US Law. Slide is semi-gloss Mark II type, with extensive scouring; and the frame is military parkerized with extensive whitening and some superficial pitting. Note that the rear sight has edge wear, as the photos show. We rate this Belgian-Israeli Hi-Power as Good finish wise, sixty to seventy percent vicinity by our estimate; but photos ought to suffice so that our distinguished shoppers can judge finish grade for themselves. It is Excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Magazine is Military issue. We are including a new Mec-Gar 10 round magazine; for civilian buyers in jurisdictions where 13 round magazines are restricted, we will sub a total of 2 Mec-Gars, or for anyone else who prefers them, for that matter.
