As early as the 1960s, almost as soon as Smith & Wesson's 39 and 59 series of pistols hit the market, law enforcement specialists began demanding compact variants. The Devel and ASP custom guns gained popularity with federal agents, including the Secret Service, all variants of the S&Ws. It was not until 1983 that Smith & Wesson began paying serious attention to demand for compact autos. The Company's first response was this specimen's immediate ancestor, the Model 469, popularly known simply as the Mini. The model 6904 came on the market in 1988; from this one's TZB serial number prefix, it was manufactured in 1992. Dimensions were chopped considerably from the larger 459 and 659; extreme overall length is only 6 3/4 inches; maximum height from the top of the rear sight to the base of the finger rest is 5 1/4 inches; and maximum frame thickness only 0.95 inches, a thickness that has not been significantly bested in 25 years for a 9mm capable of holding 20 round magazines. One thing we all noticed was that these little pistols outshot their larger siblings, mainly due to the superior lockup of the barrel configuration. This is, by way of specs, a traditional double action pistol capable of being manually cocked for single action shooting due to its half cock capability and the four-groove serrations of the .260 bobbed blue steel hammer. The .365 smooth combat trigger mates well with the serrated-front third generation trigger guard for secure and composed two-hand shooting. Manual safety / decocker is for right hand shooters, but the 6904 also has the classic Smith & Wesson firing pin block and magazine safety. This specimen comes with one ban period 10 round magazine; and we are also including a ban period LE stainless 15 round magazine with Precision brand adapter. Barrel length is 3 1/2 inches; sights are classic configuration Novak 3-dot, drift adjustable only rear sight. Weight is only 26 ounces empty, due to the anodized alloy frame supporting blue steel slide, steel parts, and chrome lined barrel. This is an excellent pistol, one of our favorites. Surface detractionas are only moderate: faint whitening on the sharp edges, faint scouring on the slide shoulders, and one Idiot Scratch on the right side of the frame from an inept disassemble. We rate it as a strong Very Good, perhaps even Excellent, specimen, since 85 to 90 percent of its original finish is intact by our estimate. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Own this eminently serviceable, accurate, and collectable 6904, discontinued in 1998 after only 10 years in production, for only $ 419.95. Not transferable to civilians in California, D.C., or Massachusetts. For Chicago civilian buyers we will make every effort to scour up 12 round pre-ban magazines. Civilian buyers in Chicago, Hawaii, New York, Toledo OH, or other jurisdictions with similar civilian magazine restrictions will receive 10 round 5900 oversize mags, either blue Mec-Gar or S&W Stainless or no magazines and $ 415 freight paid.

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
