Description: Winchester made in March of 1918, so likely got into WWI. Fires the 30-06 cartridge, which is sold wherever ammunition is sold. Bolt action, five round internal magazine. Both the receiver and barrel are clearly marked as Winchester. contact sashe at cfl. rr. com and use the @ symbol and leave out the spaces and I will send you more photos and details. The US Model of 1917 is known as one of the strongest bolt rifles ever made and so, many do not survive in military trim, as they were cut down and re chambered for magnum cartridges for hunting. This one is the original article and in grand condition. Used throughout WWI and again during WWII. Many were lend-leased to British Commonwealth countries. I have another one, with the red ring painted around the walnut stock, indicating use by Canada, during WWII, as their Pattern 1914 rifle looks the same, but was chambered for the British 303 caliber round. Ask all questions and I will answer fast. This one has no import marks and came from the US Arsenal.
