From its AYB serial number prefix, this Smith & Wesson .357 Military & Police Heavy Barrel Stainless, numbered model 65-3, was manufactured some time in 1986. This is a tight, attractive, serviceable Department Revolver that has been in our area for the past fifteen years or so. Surface detractions are only moderate. One of the Department Armorers inscribed the serial number onto the yoke area of the frame so that the revolver could be checked in without removing its grips. There is some strap scouring on the right side plate and on the sharp edges and matte area atop the barrel and frame. Holster buffing is only moderate as well. We rate it as a strong Very Good, since 80 to 85 percent of the original classic streaked-stainless finish is intact by our estimate. Photos should suffice, however, for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Note the fully traditional configuration; satin stainless .265 service hammer and .312 smooth combat trigger. Also, the center portion of the matte rib area is raised. It is Excellent mechanically. Blast effect to the under side of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is minimal, only a shallow etchy impress with no significant depth that traverses the width of the top strap. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is an above average .008, so we do not believe this revolver has had all that many magnum rounds fired through it, given the excellent condition of the top strap area. Bore, cylinder chambers, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels a full 10 to 15 degrees on double action in all six positions after the cylinder times. On single action the hammer travels a full 30 degrees on all six after the cylinder times, and single action trigger pull is a crisp 3 3/4 pounds. Lateral play to the cylinder is moderate both with the trigger relaxed and with it pulled all the way, about 1 1/2 mm total play. Grips are new replacement Pachmayr SK/GP, period appropriate since the Gripper Professional was introduced around 1986. We're offering this very nice stainless 65-3 for only $ 359.95 Not transferable to civilians in California, D.C., or Massachusetts.

Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
