Piotti King #1 12ga. - SINGLE TRIGGER, HIDDEN DETACHABLE LOCKS
Piotti shotguns are considered Italian "BEST" guns and are equal to any double guns made in the world. Some say they even surpass a Purdey, though the same people have been called heretics as well! A full sidelock Holland style action, engraved by Italy's best, stocked to the fences, chopper lump barrels, factory leather case with accessories all combine to make a fine game or clays gun. This Piotti, serial number 9235 built around 1995, is in as new condition and can be had for almost half the cost of a new one from William Larking Moore. Certainly a good investment in a fine double, as the cost for new guns continue to rise and high condition used gun prices will follow right along.
The 28" chopper lump barrels retain 99+% factory blue, mirror bores, clear sharp lettering, 2 3/4" chambers, bore diameter .727 both barrels, choked IC/IM (.011/.027, can be altered to your specs for $85/barrel), minimum barrel wall thickness 26 thou right, 29 thou left, file cut rib, ribs tight, barrels tight on breech face and hinge like a new gun, no pits, scratches, or dents, a perfect set of barrels.
The Holland style sidelock action is delightfully engraved in full coverage fine English scroll with bouquets BY CREATIVE ART, engraving sharp and clean as new, HIDDEN HAND DETACHABLE LOCKS, perfect unturned screws, cocking indicators, crisp SINGLE TRIGGER in rear position, right barrel trigger 2 1/2 lbs., left barrel trigger 5lbs., rolled trigger guard edge, mechanically excellent in all ways, a true work of art.
The EXHIBITION, FACTORY UPGRADED TURKISH WALNUT is stunning, with 32lpi checkering, diamond shaped English grip, graceful beavertail forend with Piotti GOLD SHIELD inlay, superb wood to metal fit, no splits, cracks, or repairs, 14 1/2" LOP from rear trigger position to checkered butt, 2 1/4" DAH, 1 3/8" DAC, 1/4" cast off (can be bent to your specs within 10 days of purchase for about $180), just a luxurious set of wood.
This 6lb. 14oz. Piotti masterpiece balances perfectly 1/8" forward of the hinge pin. Dynamic in hand, light enough for carrying afield, but heavy enough to absorb the recoil from heavy loads or hundreds of clay targets you may break on the sporting clays course. As the cost of a new Piotti continues to rise every year, the value of this gun will rise accordingly, so this is a fine, investment quality firearm. Piotti makes less than 100 guns a year, so you can own this one without the long wait and high cost of new.
