From President Reagan's Inaugural Year of 1981 comes this very attractive Marlin Model 336 C. Serial number prefix 19 dates it. This Marlin is a local rifle and has spent its entire career in possession of one of our best late customers from neighboring Hardeman County Tennessee, usually the top White Tail Harvesting County in our State. This Marlin only has Moderate Handling Wear. There is light scuffing to the forend sides that dimmed the semi-glossy finish, and less visible occasional scuffs to its buttstock. Bluing is very strong and original throughout, and the gold trigger shows only faint whitening to its edges. Note that the loading gate has only edge whitening; this rifle has likely not been fired 100 times during its life, but when it did fire, a buck hit the ground. Scope is a period correct Korean Simmons, not Chinese; and it is securely mounted with steel top Weaver see-through rings that our old friend Ed reluctantly installed when he joined the bifocal club. Scope has moderate scouring on its external surfaces; it is a duplex type and appears clear, probably one that spent a few years on a .22. This rifle is a strong Very Good finishwise, close to Excellent, since 85 to 90 percent of its original finish is intact by our estimate. Photos, at any rate, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. It is Excellent mechanically. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are bright, clean, and excellent.
