Here is Ruger's new EC9S Sub Compact 9mm pocket pistol. Manufacturer and warrantor is Sturm, Ruger & Company, Prescott, AZ plant. Type is sub compact double action only, locked breech semiautomatic striker fired pistol. Construction is steel barrel, slide, magazine body, trigger, and internal parts assembled into a steel reinforced lightweight polymer frame with polymer guide rod. Caliber is 9mm Luger, 9mm Parabellum, 9x19, call it what you will, THE 9mm. Barrel is 3.12 inches, with 7 groove 1:10 right hand rifling. Extractor serves as a loaded chamber indicator. Slide is steel, with rear lateral serrations. Sights are slide integral steel, black blade front and low profile notched rear. Trigger is .250 smooth face steel, pulls two stage at just over 4 pounds with 1 inch of travel. Sear resets upon cycling. This LC9 has a firing pin safety, a left side lever safety for right handed shooters, and a magazine safety. It will NOT fire single shot with the magazine out. The EC9 does not have any internal lock. Magazine is steel bodied factory, with round count ports and polymer follower and interchangeable finger rest and flat floorplates. Capacity is 7 rounds, so 7 + 1 fully loaded capacity. 9 round extended capacity magazines are readily available but not included. The EC9X has a slide stop, and locks open on an empty magazine. Frame thickness is .92 inch at the ejection port. Overall length is 6 inches; height is 4 1/2 inches with the flat plate on the magazine. Weight empty is 18 ounces, with center of gravity at the breech face. Finish is matte blued slide, with polished surface blued steel barrel, levers, trigger, and magazine body. Each EC9 comes in its white cardboard factory box with extra magazine floorplate, NRA Card, window decal, conversion card, Ruger store cards, take down magazine well tool, and factory registration card.
