The evolution of this pistol began in the 1960s with the Devel Custom modified variants of the Model 39 single stack 9mm. Smith & Wesson introduced its first production compact, this very pistol, named simply the Mini, numbered model 469, in 1983. This particular model 469 comes to us from a St. Tammany Parish Louisiana estate. It is in its original box with both blue steel 12 shot black follower magazines, original Nox protective papers, brief edition manual, warranty center list, and never completed blue warranty card that is dated from 1989. The special order Code on the tag, however, is 4088. This 469, then, most likely left 2100 Roosevelt Avenue in February of 1988, one of the last 469s ever produced. Frame construction is anodized matte alloy. Slide is matte blue steel with rear serrations, left side safety and decocking lever for right-handed shooters; and traditional rounded shoulder white outline rear sight and yellow filled serrated front Sights. Barrel is the highly accurate knurled muzzle 3 1/2 inch that always performed with superior accuracy, and made this pistol more accurate than its 59 and 459 siblings. Type is traditional double action; long double action pull on the first shot from a resting hammer and then short single action pull on subsequent shots from a standing hammer position. This pistol incorporates three outstanding safety mechanisms: the firing pin block safety, a magazine safety, and the main decocking safety lever. Capacity is 12 + 1, and both original magazines are included. Surface detractions are minimal, only small faint amounts of edge whitening to the edges of the rear grip frame strut and forward slide edges. We classify it as Excellent, Near Mint, since no more than 5 percent of its surface is affected in our estimation.
