HG5564 The first time many of us heard of U.S. Fire Arms Company was in 1995 with the dispute over the iconic Rampant Colt statue that sits on the Blue Dome at the old Colt Factory in East Hartford, Connecticut. Colt Manufacturing, weak as it was at the time, won the rights to the trademark, but the pony itself still sits at the peak of the factory where this U.S. Fire Arms revolver was manufactured. The company’s products are every bit as good, and even more traditional, than the currently produced Single Action Army revolvers from Colt’s Custom Shop. Each revolver is milled from a single piece of steel, no casting involved. This is U.S. Fire Arms’s Cowboy Sheriff, USFA number USSH3454. This is a closely replicated descendant of the original Colt Sheriff or Storekeeper variant that was introduced in 1882, 3 inch barrel without ejector system. Type, of course, is Single Action only with Black Powder Frame, capacity 6 rounds of .45 Long Colt standard velocity ammunition, lustrous Dome Blue Finish on Steel Construction; traditional checkered hard rubber grips; 3 inch barrel with blade front sight. This specimen was manufactured on a limited edition run of 250 revolvers in 2007, and we finally got it and some of its mates from one of our dealer friends who had held them for four years. Its serial number is below #40, one of the first 50 made out of a run that totaled only 250 revolvers. This specimen exhibits two or three tiny areas of shelf wear, on the rear left shoulder of the frame, on the left upper top strap, and on the left edge of the trigger guard frame. We rate it as Excellent to Near Mint, 95 percent vicinity, unfired in Box. Photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. These fine revolvers command prices over $1,000 apiece in our area, if a person can even find one. The factory website prices classifies this Sheriff in its Premium Grade Revolvers category, and factory pricing starts at $ 975.00 per unit. We’re offering the Sheriff in the photos, however, for only $ 739.00. Not transferable to civilians in Massachusetts.
