Parker GHE 12ga. NEAR NEW, BEAVERTAIL, PARKER STEEL BARRELS
Look at this fantastic Parker! With all of the high condition guns being scooped up by wise investors, collectors, and shooters it is a rare day when one finds a near new, FACTORY ORIGINAL Parker with desirable options. There are a lot of GH Grade 12 ga. guns out there as they made over 25,000 of them. However, 22,500 of them are Damascus barreled guns with little or no condition remaining. THEY ONLY MADE 2500 GH PARKER 12 GAUGE GUNS WITH PARKER STEEL BARRELS. Most of these steel barreled guns are standard extractor field guns with little or no condition remaining. This fine Parker, sn239956 made in 1936, has 95% VIVID CASE COLOR, rare beavertail forend, ejectors, barrels and wood 99% factory finishes, and what is likely a factory Silvers pad. There is a letter that comes with the gun. A beautiful and rare example of a very special Parker, it is a fine, investment quality American double that will be a joy to take afield or to the Vintage Side by Side shoot to crush targets. The GH Grade is the first with the tasteful game scene engraving and richly figured walnut, and at 7lbs. 14oz., balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, beavertail forend, ejectors, and high condition will make for a perfect Sporting Clays gun.
The 30” Parker Steel barrels retain 99% factory blue, mirror bores, 2 ¾” chambers, no dents, pits, or major scratches, double ivory beads, strong well timed ejectors, bore diameter if .730/.731, choked M/F (.024/.037, can be altered to your specs for $70 per barrel), minimum wall thickness of 32 thousandths, ribs tight and barrels ring like chimes, barrels tight on breech face and hinge pin like a new gun, sharp clear lettering, just a great set of barrels.
The #1 ½ frame receiver retains 95% or better of the bold, vivid case colors so treasured by Parker aficionados, sharp, clear, scroll and game scene engraving, perfect screws, action tight with lever well right of center, crisp double triggers, 98% niter trigger guard blue, really outstanding factory original condition.
The buttstock and beavertail forend are highly figured walnut with near all of its factory finish, clear, sharp checkering, no splits, cracks, or repairs, 14” LOP to Silvers pad, drop at heel 2 5/8”, drop at comb 1 5/8”, neutral cast (can be bent to your specs for about $180 within 10 days of purchase), perfect wood to metal fit. It is likely the pad is factory installed, as the curvature of the butt still remains. A majority of Parker 12ga. guns with the beavertail forend had factory pads. The figure in the wood exceeds the quality of most DH Grade Parkers. Really an exceptionally good looking gun.
Most shotgunners have a 12 gauge need, and this gun is set up for delightful shooting in the field or on the clays course. The beavertail is really preferred for clay target shooting where your barrels can get hot, and many enjoy them in the field as well because of the feel in hand. A rare feature on a Vintage American double, added to the highly figured wood, near new factory condition, and perfect balance, all combine to make a real treasure of a Parker that will bring you great pride. If you choose to sell it in the future it will bring a good return on your investment to boot.
