The best of the best for your viewing pleasure. This is a late war Springfield Armory M1 Garand built out as a National Match rifle. About 800 M1 Garands were chosen to be upgraded to Nation Match specs for inter service competitions. The rifle has all the right features for a Nation Match type 2. The barrel is dated 2-53, with the T for targeting and P for proofing, also the 4 point star or diamond for type 2 national match barrel. The barrel is also marked with a NM forward of the for end and before the front sight. The front sight is marked with a MN and .062. The rear sight is marked NM/2. The stock has the small DOD cartouche and P on the pistol grip. The stock has been bedded as type 2 rifles were. There is also a brass disk with the gun that indicates the serial number the initials NM and the DOD cartouche. The stock is in excellent condition with minor handling marks.
