Early Hand-Made Bowie Knife. I found this knife in an estate I purchased locally here in Central Maine. A few years back, I purchased other Civil War related material from this same gentleman, who said it had been "passed down in the family", Civil War Tintypes, Discharge, Bullets.... He never showed me the knife then. Take this information for what its worth and form your own opinion.
The overall length of the knife is just under 13"; the blade is 7 3/4" by 1 9/16". The handle appears to be hickory, which is one of the reasons I think it might be a Confederate Knife. I have not attempted to clean the blade in any way.
