Here is what our photographer calls a Texas Mossberg, the Maverick 88, The Maverick in the photo is has spent its little used, much hauled career providing security for one of our Agriculture Scientists here in Tennessippi, as we call our home area. The Mavericks are, like their Mossberg 500 ancestors, excellent shotguns, by no means beauty queens but they'll stay with you and work, something our photographer values in women and shotguns more than he does good looks and high maintenance. Weight empty is only 6 1/2 pounds, barrel is 2 ¾ or 3 inch chambered 18 inch cylinder bore; magazine capacity is 5 plus 1; overall length is only 38 inches. The Mavericks have double slide bars just like their New England grandmothers, the 500s; and they work unfailingly in dust and rain. This one has negligible surface wear of any type, and we classify it as near mint, but photos should enable shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Since the magazine tube and double steel slide arms show negligible whitening on their edges, we doubt this shotgun has been fired more than 10 – 20 times. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are bright, clean, and Excellent. Retail price on these in our area now approaches the $300 mark. We're offering this one, however, for only $ 199.95
