From a decade of service protecting our fellow Americans on duty with the distinguished officers of the Lowell, Massachusetts, Police Department comes this 2000 production Colt AR-15 A2 Government Carbine. This specimen is more durably finished than any of its peers that roll out of the Hartford Colt Plant. With the exception of its dual aperture adjustable rear sight that still retains its issue parkerized finish, all metal surfaces are custom Black Ice Coated by Mr. Lee Meacham and his staff at Black Ice Finishes in Utah. The process installs a manganese and teflon finish that is superior to any other. Note the Lowell PD Letter stenciled onto the buttstock. The only detractions, apart from case contact on the rear sight’s dial edges, is buffing and light scouring on the forend, pistol grip, and rear end of the buttstock. We classify this rifle as Excellent / Refinish, but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. It is excellent mechanically; bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright, clean, and excellent; and we estimate it has been fired fewer than 800 rounds with annual qualification. It still has its officer-installed sling and issue factory magazine that is also Black Ice Coated. As far as specs, Barrel is conventional 16 inch C-AR length, but with a steel non-removable 6 slot muzzle brake that brings the total barrel length up to 18 inches. Overall length, including the classic style original buttstock, is 35 1/4 inches, and weight empty 6 pounds 12 ounces without magazine. Replacement pricing on a Government Carbine in our area ranges often in the $1500 vicinity, and one just does not ever see them floating around. We’re offering the rifle in the photos, however, for only $ 969.00. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
