Here is a locally owned, early production Thompson/Center Encore Pistol, direct descendant of the tried and true Contender, with a 12 inch Ported .44 Magnum Heavy Barrel. The Encore, of course, shows to be a beefed up Contender action capable of withstanding long action rifle caliber loads and barrels, if the shooter can stand them. Along that line, this Encore is equipped with Factory T/C Hogue grip and forend with a substantial, thick, decelerator type backstrap portion that eases with recoil, not much of a problem anyway with this setup in .44 Remington Magnum caliber, complete with 63 perforation factory muzzle brake system built into the 12 inch barrel, a configuration that leaves 10 inches of rifling with more velocity potential than a Ruger 9 1/2 inch Super Redhawk or Blackhawk. Scope Mount is conventional Redfield one piece, dovetailed twist in front ring with screw anchored rear ring. Both Rings are Leupold Matte finish High, and they cradle a late 1980s Redfield 2 3/4 power pistol scope that is as immaculate as the rest of the gun. We do not detect any surface detractions anywhere on this pistol’s surfaces; from our knowledge of its owner and its condition, we estimate it has been fired fewer than 200 times. From its 159000 range serial number, we estimate this Encore was manufactured in 2000 or 2001. Type is single shot pistol, break open action; and the .44 Magnum caliber, of course, can be changed to virtually any caliber given the overwhelming variety of Encore and Contender barrels available. Weight empty is a well balanced 4 pounds 10 ounces. This pistol comes with its owner’s original US Made black nylon case. Replacement pricing on this whole setup, scope and mounts and all, is upwards of $1000 in our area if a person can even find one. We’re offering this entire setup, however, for only $ 569.00.
