It is furnished with a total of two High Capacity 16 round magazines, manufactured in Italy by Mec-Gar for Smith & Wesson. The magazines are late ban period Law Enforcement marked, not an issue for the time being except for residents of California, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, or New York. This pistol was manufactured in 2003, attest its included fired brass case; and the frame is marked Made in Germany. This later variant SW99 has the integral Picatinny Rail on its frame. Factory Product Code is 320220. This pistol is in its original issue S&W flat blue box, with 2 extra mainspring housings, instruction manual, warranty card, plain 3-dot sights, and extra magazine. It has double mode, double action pistol. When the sear is set, the trigger pull is light and short, but it has a decocker shown on the frame that unsets the sear and resumes the rest position long double action pull of about 12 pounds. This pistol has a magazine safety; that is, it will not fire with the magazine removed even if there is a live round still in the barrel. That is a very positive feature on our view. We consider this 99 to be in Excellent Condition. Its only surface detractions are faint amounts of whitening on forward left edge of the slide and on the external chamber area of the barrel that is exposed by the ejector port. Grip frame has faint scouring. We estimate it has 95 percent or more of its original finish intact; photos, however, should suffice for prospective owners to judge finish grade for themselves. Its night sights are about 70 percent full strength by our estimate, perhaps even more. Since night sights normally retain their luminosity for 12 years, these Trijicons have plenty of good service left. Barrel is 4 inches long, and weight empty with magazine is 24 1/2 oz.. Replacement price on the Walther 99, its closest descendant, is now over $700 in our area if a person can even find one.
