The Ruger Redhawk has always been an exceptional value. Not only is it a good $100 less than its Smith & Wesson Competitors; it has stronger frame and action. Ruger topstraps, the stress point of their frames, have always been roughly twice as thick as the Smiths; furthermore, we do not ever remember having a Ruger Double Action with timing problems. As much as any revolver ever built, the Redhawk is virtually indestructible. This is the original Redhawk, the 7 1/2 inch Stainless. Manufacturer is Sturm, Ruger & Co., Southport CT plant. Factory sku is 5001, letter code KRH44. Construction is entirely stainless steel, only with black anodized, spring loaded dovetailed interchangeable red ramp front sight and matching white outline blade, windage and elevation adjustable rear sight. Type is traditional double and single action revolver with transfer bar internal safety device. Barrel is 7 1/2 inch heavy type, not full lug, with 6 groove 1:20 right hand rifling. Cylinder has the Ruger triple lock configuration, swing out with Ruger’s easy access thumb latch. Chambering and capacity is six rounds of .44 Smith & Wesson Special or .44 Remington Magnum caliber ammunition interchangeably. Weight empty is 54 ounces, with center of gravity at the front of the trigger guard. Trigger is .312 smooth faced combat type, with .300 serrated spur hammer. Grips are period correct Hogue Monogrip one piece combat type soft rubber. This specimen comes to us from its exclusive consumer owner in South Alabama. From its 0 range serial number, it was manufactured in 1991. Surface detractions are minimal to moderate, principally faint scouring on the front under side of the frame, faint whitening to the front sight edges, and buffing indications here and there. We rate it as Very Good, 80 to 85 percent by our estimate; but photos ought to suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Bore, chamber, and mechanism are all bright and clean. Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and the hammer travels 5 degrees on double action after the cylinder times in place on all six position. On single action, the hammer travels an additional 20 degrees to cocked position after the cylinder times, and single action trigger pull is an original 6 pounds with minimal felt creep and overtravel. Lateral play to the cylinder is minimal with the trigger relaxed, and negligible with the trigger fully depressed. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap is a perfect .006. Blast effect to the under side of the top strap directly above the barrel’s forcing cone is minimal, only a faint etchy line that traverses the width of the top strap. We estimate this revolver has been fired fewer than 800 rounds, no rounds at all for a Redhawk. It comes with a suede lined, serviceable Bianchi 5BHL Brown Leather Holster. Replacement pricing on this revolver and holster in our area is over $1,000. We’re offering the 1991 Ruger Redhawk in the photos, however, for only $ 639.00. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> $15 lower 48; $40 Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico, USPS Priority, insured with Delivery Confirmation.
