Description: This listing is for one revolver, the exact one in the photos. FFLs and Law Enforcement, however, may take any number of very similar Model 64s at the same per-gun price and with no additional shipping charges. Here is the tried and true, accurate, simple and reliable Smith & Wesson .38 Special Military & Police Stainless, numbered Model 64. The 4 inch heavy barrel 64 is by far the most sensible handgun to own, from novice users to seasoned veterans. It is well balanced, delivers adequate energy with minimal felt recoil, and it is remarkably easy to hit with. This specimen of the Model 64, 3rd Engineering change, served with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. From its ACE Serial number prefix, it was manufactured in 1983. Type is traditional double and single action revolver with internal transfer bar safety device. Construction is stainless steel, K Frame with Square Butt. Trigger is Classic Satin Stainless .312 smooth faced combat style, with matching .265 serrated spur service width hammer. Capacity is 6 rounds of .38 Special standard or +P high performance ammunition. Weight empty is 35 ounces, with center of gravity at the trigger. Grips are Michaels Finger Groove Combat. Surface detractions on this particular 64 are moderate to extensive, principally scouring on the lower sides of the frame, trigger guard, and cylinder and barrel edges; and with holster buffing to the stainless surfaces. Yoke screw shows minimal stress from annual armorer servicing. We rate it as Good, 60 to 70 percent vicinity by our estimate. Photos, however, should suffice for our distinguished shoppers to judge finish grade for themselves. Mechanically, Double action trigger pull is smooth and consistent, and tSingle action trigger pull is crisp, 3-4 pound vicinity. On three positions out of six however, with a veeerryy ssllooo and trigger motion, the cylinder fails to time before the hammer breaks. With normal brisk double action trigger pull and brisk cocking motion, it works fine. Lateral play to the cylinder is minimal, less than 1 mm total movement by our estimate, both with the trigger relaxed and with it fully depressed. Blast effect to the underside of the frame top strap directly above the barrel's forcing cone is moderate, a faint etchy streak that traverses the width of the top strap, as the photos show. This revolver has not had very many +P rounds fired in it. Cylinder face to forcing cone gap measures a perfect .006. This 29 year old service revolver has been well maintained and sparingly used during its career, and it is eminently serviceable for civilian or security use. We're offering this eminently serviceable Ohio Department of Corrections S&W .38 Special Military & Police Stainless 64-3 for only $289.00. Don't let your buddies use your account. Registered user must be the buyer, with his or her own money. Buying firearms and related items for other people can result in felony charges. Don't try, either, to circumvent any law; for example, a California civilian may not buy a high capacity magazine and have it shipped to his brother-in-law in Nevada. That is a felony.
GA Pay buyers are NOT charged until we confirm we have the item and are ready to ship it. The same thing is true for phone-in, fax-in, and mail-in payments. In this respect, and in several others, Guns America outshines all its competitors. This is the best firearms website there is, hands down.
