CMP documented 1943 Springfield Arsenal M1 Garand. After WW2 the United States provided thousands of M1 Garands to Greece and other allies. During the early 2000s, Greece returned these rifles to the United States government where they were sold by the CMP. These rifles are not considered re-imports. They were returned directly from the Greek government to the United States government and as such have no import markings.
This rifle, serial number 2078884 is a Greek return and has been through post WW2 re-build where it was re-finished and re-barreled with a 1-53 dated barrel. It contains a mix of WW2 and post war parts which are all SA. The rifle retains what appears to be it's original stock and hand guards with a legible SA/GAW cartouche. All three pieces of wood match perfectly with no cracks. The bore is excellent with no pitting. Rifle is pictured with circa correct non dated leather sling and M1 bayonet made by Utica Cutlary both of which are included in the price. Also included is a non-dated post war web sling. This rifle was my shooter for several years and functions perfectly. Also included is CMP paper work and manual.
This is an excellent package deal for a very good CMP documented M1 rifle with bayonet and sling that has served both the United States in WW2 our allies after the war.
