Serial number is 523xxx making this a 1891 production rifle. Sharp clear cartouche is stamped 1891 and SWP. There is a lot of bluing left on this rifle with some metal taking on a brownish patina with some surface rust showing on the barrel, sight, and butt plate. The bore is bright with strong land/grooves. No front site hood, I don't know if it was issued with this rifle or not. It does have the Buffington rear. The stock is stamped in White paint with what I assume was a unit designation. The wood shows not cracks or splits but there is a deeper pressure dent in the forearm wood on the left side in front of the rear band. Bands are stamped with the letter U. The "flat latch" bayonet keeper works fine and the rod itself retains 95%+ blue. I have over 20 more pictures I can send to interested parties. Price is plus USPS Priority shipping/Ins.
